There are four stages to go through on the way to venture capital financing :

The business plan is presented and checked. Only about 20 percent of the applications are evaluated positively in this first check and come to the participation check, the "due diligence".

Participation check of approx. 3 to 6 months. This begins with a rough analysis of the business plan and then, if the assessment is positive, moves on to the detailed analysis. The company and the market and technology potential are examined intensively. During this phase, there are also intensive discussions with the management and on-site inspections are carried out.

Decision whether it actually comes to VC financing. A maximum of three percent of the business plans submitted go into this third phase. If the decision is positive, negotiations will follow about the extent of the participation, the conditions and the right to have a say.
